Comprehensive Lightroom - Spring 2023

DESCRIPTION
Whether you’re new to Lightroom (CC or Classic) or have just felt like you can’t get your arms around Lightroom, this class is for you. This class covers four key elements for working in Lightroom—organizing your images, editing your images, sharing your images, and using the best of the Lightroom programs from phones to computers. We start the course focused on importing, organizing, and finding your images. From backups to collections, we leave no stone unturned. We then turn our focus to processing images. Lightroom has some fantastic tools for editing photographs, many of which have been updated in the past year and, in some ways, have made Photoshop redundant. We will detail all the tools in the Develop module and review workflow options to make the best edits possible. Once we have a handle on the processing, we will turn to printing and exporting out of Lightroom. You will learn all the ins and outs of effectively printing in Lightroom or exporting your images to have them printed by someone else. Finally, we will learn how to use the power of the Adobe cloud tools to make Lightroom work across all your devices. Along the way, tips and tricks for organizing, editing and printing will make it easier to stay organized, process large volumes of work, and free up more time so you can spend it behind the camera.

NOTES

• The course will be held in the PCNW Mac lab, but instructions will be provided for both Mac and PC. Students may use their own laptops if they prefer.
• Students will be required to have an external hard drive for the quarter to store their images and catalogs.
• Students should expect to spend several hours per week on assignments for this course, which may require use of PCNW facilities; view our Rental Rates for details about additional fees.
