In this online course, we will explore still life photography as both a historical and contemporary practice, tracing its roots in fine art traditions and vernacular photography while examining how contemporary artists continue to reinterpret and expand the genre. Through a combination of lectures, readings, creative assignments, and group discussions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of still life as a distinct classification within photography. Participants will investigate how objects, materials, light, and space can be used to generate meaning in their own photographic practice.
