This class is designed for photographers who have a solid foundation of their photographic skills and wish to expand their understanding, technique and experience of street photography. The course consists of lecture and discussion of influential street photographers, their approach, impact and influence. We will also look at the role and nature of key elements and concepts that define the genre. Each student will also spend the quarter working on a self-selected street assignment. Students will present their ongoing work multiple times during the quarter for in-class critique and discussion of their project that will culminate in a final presentation of a body of work at the conclusion of the quarter. Instructor will lead two photo walks outside of class, attendance to at least one of which is required.

This will be hosted as a hybrid course including live, interactive online sessions and in-person field trips for on-location shooting/practice. Online sessions will utilize the Zoom platform along with Google Drive for sharing files. Details regarding access will be provided to enrolled students prior to the first class.
