    ABOUT THE WORK
In Double-Take, a series of deconstructed photographs, Zachai uses a bold and unorthodox darkroom technique – he punches holes in the 6 x 7 negative and reconstructs the photograph in the darkroom. The images are stylistic and contemporary – a black background with rows of disaggregated photographic circles – reminiscent of Lichtenstein’s Ben-Day Dots and Chuck Close’s cell –grid portraits. Each photograph captures an image from a Seattle neighborhood, and the series composes a familiar and foreign look into Zachai’s own backyard.
