| PREREQS | Proficient working knowledge of darkroom printing; participants must bring gelatin-silver prints made on fiber-based paper. |
In this hands-on two-day workshop, students will explore the possibilities of using bleaching and toning to enhance analog black and white photographs. The workshop will begin with learning how to use bleach to accentuate highlights in prints. We will then move on to toning using selenium, sepia and gold, to understand the effects of each on different papers. On the second day, we will experiment with dual and selective toning, further exploring techniques and creative options to apply to your work.
What to Bring: Students are expected to bring several gelatin silver prints on fiber-based paper that they can experiment with.
