In this workshop, participants will consider the natural cycles and/or human influence in the changing landscape, discuss a variety of creative strategies to such change, and spend time creating their own independent photographic response. During our first session, participants will discuss ideas involving creative responses to the altered landscape and look at examples of how artists approach working within a changing environment. We will examine a variety of ecological and conceptual readings (that will be sent out prior to the start of the workshop) about the landscape and how each participant intends to create their own visual body of work.

For the second session, we will gather at Saint Edward State Park, located in Kenmore, on the northern end of Lake Washington. We will begin with a natural history of the site and a general tour of the park, followed by open creative time. At the end of the second session, participants will be welcome to share their experiences over refreshments at The Lodge on site.

Participants will then have time to work independently on their respective photographic response before coming together for the final session in person at PCNW to share the work.
