Participate both in front of and behind the camera to discover how it can be used as a tool for self-expression and reflection in this week-long workshop centered around the self-portrait. Led by teaching artist Aunna Moriarty, gain inspiration from daily discussions as you consider intentions and story building while engaging in playful photographic exercises that use your body, clothing, and props to investigate the self. Explore the history of performance and works by photographers who center body language as a mode of visual communication. You are asked to bring a digital camera and a willingness to explore personal experiences in the world. At the end of this workshop, you will leave with a better understanding of self-representation and how the camera can aid in processing a wide spectrum of emotions and experiences.
DSLR cameras and scholarships are available for those in need; contact us at scholarships@pcnw.org.
